I started off by doing simple quick sketches to find out what I wanted the concepts to finalise and look like by drawing quick ideas, selecting which ideas fit the theme best and put them all together. These were only quick and rough sketches which I had gained inspiration from things such as games, TV shows, movies, images and some original ideas that I have quickly drawn down from the top of my head.
This is one of my sketches of what I thought a futuristic type of spaceship/ station would look like. I wanted to make it huge, similar to the spaceships from star wars. I tried to make it more futuristic by adding things onto it that gave it a robotic type of feel and I think that this design looks pretty good and it suits the theme of futuristic sci-fi and space.
This is a sketch that I did of Daisy. I already had a rough idea of what I wanted her to look like as I was largely inspired by Pokemon Professors. My initial plan was to have her wear a large lab coat which gives of a cool vibe. I gave her some basic clothes that would be suitable to wear in a lab so no clothes could get trapped in anything when doing experiments that could be very dangerous experimenting with unknown meteorite shards she is experimenting with.
This is one of my ideas of a handheld weapon and what it would have been held in. I used my imagination and used random shapes and put them together until I felt happy with the design. Overall, I think this is simple but effective as I think the weapon holds a fictional/ comic kind of style which I think is pretty cool.
This is some rought sketches of a sword type of weapon which was an alternate handheld weapon choice that I had in mind. I think it was pretty simple but I think that it was a good idea but when it got nearer to making the choice, I didn't think that this weapon suited the theme as well. I was also trying to think of how the communication device could look as I plotted down multiple way of how I thought it could have ended up looking as.
Here is another sketch of a scientific toolkit which I drew showing that the design is fairly simplistic with various sci-fi like effects. I like this as it is fairly simple and it also gives off a good impact.I think that I could have easily had added more detail to this design but I was only experimenting and I only spent a small amount of time on this.
This is another spaceship structure I sketched down which is where I literally experimented with shaped to try and create a design that suited the theme and looked very nice and unique like a lot of the futuristic spaceships are. I tried to used different techniques and examples to inspire me to gather plenty of ideas together to overall come up with a really good design for my game.
This is a laboratory which was an environment that I created because I thought that it would suit Daisy well because she is inside of space to do experiments and to collect and examine meteorite shards to see if they could do anything out of the order such as contain super powers or hidden mysteries. I like this as I think that it is unique and a pretty cool environment that instantly makes me think of sci-fi which is something I really like.
This is a sketch of a 1970's futuristic computer like thing that looks really cool and gives off a sci-fi vibe. I think that it looks cool with all the dials and it also follows the same thing of how people from the 1970's were viewing how the future would have looked like.
As you can see, I have quickly sketched various ideas of object and my character to see what would look the best, what the player would want to see and what I thought suited the futuristic sci-fi space theme the best. These were only fast drawings so I didn't spend enough time on to apply texture or elaborate on them such as drawing in little bits of detail or making them look absolutely perfect. The aim of this was to use my own ideas so I could jot them down quickly and then later on when I have enough ideas, I will use them to create a final or close enough final product of the character, weapons, environment and objects within the game itself.
